| The
Cooley Communiqué is published by the Association semiannually.
It includes news of the Association and its membership, as well as
a section of genealogical data and Association members' queries. All
members receive a subscription to The Cooley
Communiqué.
One of the prized assets of the Association is seven
scrapbooks containing news clippings, pictures, announcements, etc.,
all featuring Cooleys, Cooley descendants and/or Cooley connections. Prospective members (except those desiring Associate
Memberships) are required to complete a lineage application detailing
their descent from Cooley ancestors. Accurate and reliable documentation
is requested in order for the Association files to be of maximum
use to researchers in future generations. The Association offers three membership categories:ANNUAL MEMBERS pay a $10.00 initiation fee and annual
dues of $10.00. Annual members must be descended from a Cooley ancestor.
Annual members may vote and hold office, and shall enjoy all privileges
of the Association. ASSOCIATE MEMBERS pay a $10.00 initiation fee and
$10.00 annual dues. Associate members are not descendants of Cooley
ancestors and are not eligible to vote or hold office.LIFE MEMBERS pay $10.00 initiation fee and donate
$100 to the Endowment Fund of the Association; they shall enjoy all
the privileges of Annual membership, and must be eligible for Annual
membership.
THE COOLEY FAMILY ASSOCIATION is becoming more and
more popular, witnessed by the increasing membership (over 400)
and the number of queries received for Cooley Family histories of
earlier years.
The Association meets in different locations across
the country every two years on the last weekend in July. The purpose
of the meetings is to enlist the interest of local Cooleys in the
Association and from time to time visit spots of historical interest
to our Cooley ancestors. Over the past several years we have held
meetings in Michigan, Utah, Indiana, and Massachusetts. The 2006
Reunion was held in Springfield, Massachusetts and featured a tour of several
old Cooley homes.
Prospective members
and others interested in more information may address their letter
to any of the officers of the Association
